Faial, Azores, Portugal
We slept late this morning and
then watched CNN. This will be a ritual as we want to make
sure we are not flying into trouble. This afternoon we took
a brief tour of the island by taxi and saw the most amazing
site.
In 1957, Faial experienced a
volcanic eruption, which added a considerable amount of real
estate to the island. The event lasted for over a year and
required that all residents had to be evacuated.
Tomorrow we are off to Spain.
