Manassas, Virginia
We slept late, for us, arising
about 8:00. We puttered around the hotel room, watched morning
TV, Tom did his stretching exercises, push-ups, etc., while
Pam washed her hair. Of course, she had to enjoy her morning
coffee, thanks to the in-room Mr. Coffee maker. We left the
hotel at a little before eleven and ate lunch -having skipped
breakfast - right when a TGI Friday's opened. Next we made
a Home Depot and Wal*Mart run to buy a few last-minute accessories
for the airplane. We are finding that you can never have too
many storage bins for a trip this long.
Next, out to Dulles Aviation
at Manassas airport, showed our IDs to get past the policeman
at the entrance (!) and then spent time in 982GA organizing,
sorting, rearranging, and securing the large stash of stuff
on board. Also we looked for a light weight headset for Ashley,
since she does not like the big muff-type ones we usually
use. I had found an old Telex 750 I had used back in the Bonanza
A36 days, but we came to find that the mic connector was bad,
either not working at all or else making a continuous buzzing
noise. We stopped at a Radio Shack on the way back to the
Marriott - having had no luck at the airport shops - and though
they had a good alternative, but found that one of the plugs,
even when fitted with an adapter, was not compatible with
the airplane's receptacles. The search will have to continue.
We went to the exercise room
at the hotel and spent about 40 minutes on the treadmills
there, then drove to dinner at the Kobe Steak and Seafood
house, that turned out to be a Benehana-type establishment,
quite popular and busy. We opted to take immediate seating
at the sushi bar. Isn't that a hoot? Our last night in the
USA for three months and we eat Japanese food! Ah, the international
flavor of it all!
